The Pentax ME does not support TTL Flash, set the Flash to an auto range
depending on the distance you will use, read the aperture setting on the
flash scale for the given distance and set that aperture on the Pentax too.

I use a seperate Metz Spot Beam, which will function with several different
falshes. I guess the limit for when it turns on is dicided by the camera and
the lens - whenever focusing is difficult. Since focusing is performed at
full aperture, it shouldn't be the same EV for a 3.5 and a 1.4 lens.

The reason for letting the detail be in the image was almost exactly
what you describe. I´ve always learnt to remove everything but the
main object, but sometimes this leaves esthetic, but empty pictures.
So I wanted too leave some clues about the place and
bringing up shadow detail is where the difference is most noticeable.

I get 8X12's printed quite commonly. You have to go a lab that will
do it - my local Sams Club will not print them. The lab I normally
use will print them.
As for frames/mats, 8X12 is not common but does exist. The family may
not have ever looked in a full service lab or frame

Right, this looks like a scanned image (dust). Pretty grainless. Perhaps 50
ASA film. Sharpness significantly better at the center. Could be any camera
really. Perhaps K1000 and SMC 2.0/50mm.
