Is the engine port injected? If so, you might want to make sure the cylinder
that lost the electrode isn’t running lean.

Re: PESO in a way...

2017-06-13 Thread P. J. Alling
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but if you click on the "wrong",
image in "People who looked at this listing...". something interesting
happens.

So when I clicked the link it offered up only three of the "People
who..." images, two were more or less abstracts, and one was a photo
realistic image of Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman, in her
original red white and blue regalia, flying in front of the Statue of
Liberty. Using the back button to your listing now brings up a bunch of
sort of soft core porn...

The funny thing is that Wonder Woman was completely comics code
complaint, at least as far as her uniform was concerned. Less revealing
than a Beach Blanket Bingo movie staring Annette Funicello, and you
can't get a lot more wholesome than that.

Whatever you see and whatever I see may be different regardless as the
shots that come up are random to a certain extent. I'm
hoping that this time around listing the photo under ART PRINTS will do
the trick.

So group .. let me know what kind of stuff comes up as the ads

I recall that a couple of years ago someone here said (tongue in cheek) that
generally one should keep our ducks to ourselves. And mostly I agree.

But sometimes even a duck makes a good photo. This is such a case.

Unusual angle: the markings on the duck's bill seem to mimic the wake behind
the duck. Cool!

All in all a wonderful duck pic!

Once upon a time, I took lots of duck pics, to the point that it became a
family joke.  They all stank.  This one is =very= nice: the pattern of the
wake, the determined look on the duck's face, the rendering all work.

Interesting tree. I don't find this particular photo of it all that
compelling, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go back and work with
it. In various types of light and from different perspectives, I can
imaging it being mysterious and fascinating.

Regards the DoF question, there's no technical data regards focus
distance and focal length you used so it's hard to respond. Say
you're at 10' distance and FL = 20mm, which looks likely ... DoF at f/
4 for that setting is 19 feet, 3.8' in front and 15.4' in back. And
in a small, web-resolution rendering, sharpness falloff in the
distance is going to be subtle. So it's hard to get much distance
blur at those settings.

Thanks for looking, Paul. Actually, the light was that warm; It's been
that way early on for a few days, and made me remember to grab my camera
off my desk to get a shot or two. All I did was convert from RAW to
TIFF, run a high pass filter to sharpen it up a tad, resize and save.

Cotty, yeah, it's pretty rough living in all this.

Eleanor, it's all around. Sometimes it's tough shooting close to home,
because it's just so much background on most days, but at times it can
jump up and ask to be noticed.

Thanks, Frank. I appreciate it.

In other words, it's an interesting photo. I like the colours, the light,

PESO: On My Way to Work: Dogwood Blossoms

2005-04-12 Thread Rick Womer
The flowering trees are out all over Philadelphia. I
took this on a cloudy day last year.

http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3275629

Pentax 33L, resized and sharpened in Photoshop
Elements 2.

Not up to Bruce's standards, to be sure, but I kinda
like it anyway.

Comments welcome.

2005-04-12 Thread Rick Womer
Thanks very much, Bruce.

The 33L is a nice little camera, but the lack of
direct control frustrates me. In this pic, for
example, I would like to have had a bit less
DOF--enough to hold the blossoms on the left, yet blur
the background more. But, my PZ-1p is too much to
carry around every day. Someday I'll get a DSLR...

I haven't read other comments yet, but my only complaint is that on
my uncalibrated monitor, it seems a bit on the darkish side.

The blossoms themselves are fine (but would look better, brighter, I
think), and I really like your take on them. Sort of from an angle,
rather than from straight above - nice effect!!

DOF is just about right for me.

Well done, especially given your equipment.

cheers,
frank

Thanks, Dave.

If I had it to do again, I would experiment with a
polarizing filter to tame the reflections off the ivy.
Alas, the ivy has been stripped from the buildings
along my walk.

Nice!

I like the lighting, I like the slight haze separating the buildings
in the background from the brightly lit one in the foreground. I
especially like the lone student , looking as if she's off to class
(or library, or whatever) in such a deliberate fashion. You caught
her mid-stride. Really, she makes the shot, for me.

Well done.

Thanks,Peter,Marnie and Frank for your comments. The
snow is almost gone already, two days later! This was
a strange pic to view on my monitor (it's an HP
laptop); brightness and contrast varied widely
according to the angle of view. I've not had a chance
to look at it on the iMac monitor at home.
