Well - I've been playing for an hour or so each day on a couple of Upnp
devices and airplay using an old windows 10 PC runnng LMS 8.3.0 and the
dev bridges, and all is well

Thank you Philippe (and all the other developers of course) for sharing
your hard work, time and expertise so freely. It's much appreciated.
I'm still using your bridge development repository - when you say you'd
like people to test those releases are you mostly interested in bug
reports or
Despite my frustration with a disappearing DLNA player due to the last
round of updates, which is working fine now, I do understand the
difficulties that software engineering poses on occasion.
Thanks for your efforts.
Some friends, associates and I run a Facebook group dedicated to music

Thanks to all of you for your kind words - I really do appreciate.
That weekend was really bad and I obviously grossly underestimated the
risk of the changes I introduced. I should know better but sometimes you
get sloppy and a slap on the hand is a good reminder :)

Philippe, the entire LMS community owes you a debt of gratitude (in lieu
of cash ;)) for all the time and effort you have contributed in keeping
this great open source experiment not only alive but thriving. And it's

Philippe,
First, I want to thank you for all your hard work on developing products
that support the LMS/squeezebox system. Of course, it is not just you
but there are many others that volunteer their own time to contribute.
You have every right to be annoyed when someone complains in the manner
Philippe, thanks so much for your hard work on these bridges, they are a
huge part of what makes LMS such great software.
I experienced issues with the re-factored plugins, but didn't post
details out of respect for your volunteered time. It occurs to me now
that simply pasting some logs and a
Maybe some of these people that feel frustrated should take a stab at
writing their own plug-ins. Just a thought.

LMS is such an excellent thing. I am particularly in awe of the bridges
and spotty. I've been waiting with interest for the bridge refactoring.
It all worked fine for me pretty much immediately. So thank you very
much indeed.

Philippe, you are a man of honour and dedication. Those are qualities
of a great man.
Thank you for what you are doing (and props to all the contributors!).
I'll have more time during the holiday season - I'll take some time to
test your upgraded plugin. :)

I concur with all of the above.
I think it is fair to say that the uPnP/DLNA Bridge is unique and many
people simply don't realise what a buggers muddle the underlying
protocol is and the multitude of different devices and implementations
that Philippe has to code for. Personally I try to stay

Thank you Philippe (along with many others) for everything you do.
The point about the dev repository is spot on. We users are needed for
use case testing, yet our expectations should not be that every dev
release works flawlessly.

Thanks Philippe, for your exemplary works with those very useful
plugins.
End users must understand the dedication and patience needed to write
and maintain code, specially on a voluntary basis.

I'm very grateful for your work, and it definitely sounds like a good

some disruption is to be expected, especially given the large variety of

Funny how some will forget that we (I include myself here) rely so much

Well done. And I apologize for my griping.
One word of what I hope is constructive advice. When I see a new iOS
update or a major Windows update, I always wait some time and read a few
articles and posts about bugs. But I've never done that with LMS
upgrades (since 2010) including yours.
Thanks for all the work you've given.
