I dunno... but for what it's worth I will share my experience. 7 years ago I tried a new-out-of-the-box G6 on my 2m repeater and had major trouble with it. I had loud crackling in even a moderate wind. Completely unusable in duplex service. I replaced it with something else, but last year I

I guess I'll reply to this one too. My G7 is about 5 years old now. I also had a G6 (which I later gave away to someone who wanted a base antenna) that I had about 8-10 years ago. I at one point even had a Ringo Ranger and hated that one for anything duplex. James [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Another item to throw into the topic is the crystal osc alignment also changes your sensitivity. Freq-center may not give the best sensitivity depending a number of other parameters. One might hope it does, but it's not always the case. skipp Dave VanHorn [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Chris, My thought: Don't bother. You'll need about 72 dB of isolation with a typical GMRS repeater pair, and that calls for at least 39 feet of vertical separation between the antennas. That's hardly the kind of portable antenna setup that is appropriate for search and rescue applications.
