I had almost purchased a MOTOTRBO repeater for the N6DVA Digital
Voice Amateur Radio Association (to be used here within the greater
Los Angeles area). But due to it utilizing a TDMA protocol, I felt it
might not be a legal protocol to use for Amateur Radio purposes.

Most likely just yahoo and your isp - a friend here in

Two things relate to delay of posts:
1, EVERY new member is moderated for a period of time until the

Tony,
Not sure where you are going with this. I have seen and heard of antenna
systems that used power dividers to connect two antennas to a single point
with equal or unequal power division. Usually used in buildings where the
RF resource is on the top of the building and coverage is needed

Hello,
Got this from another Yahoo group, looks like they are trying to improve
things but as most Humans do, they messed up! This is probably not the
problem Paul was referring to, just interesting information.

hello guys.,
pls am new to this group, pls has anybody in the group linked 2 motorola
gr500 repeater to together so that it can wide range asuming both repeaters are
5okm apartor there about . using the basic controller to archive this.?.
pls all infor on the programming will be
Not sure about using it on the ham bands but we did just receive our demo. I
have it all programmed and will be installing the repeater later today.
Anxious to see how it plays. I try to post some results.

One of our repeaters is at a water tank. Our antenna is mounted at
the top, but on the tank's northern side. There's an opportunity to
mount another antenna at the oppostite side of the 50' wide tank
(same height). I was wondering if we might improve omni coverage by
having radiators
As far as I can tell, it's a proprietary Motorola format designed for
business and industrial use.
What I've learned is that it is not Moto proprietary, Vertex and Kenwood
are involved also.
Should be interrested, radios should be dual-mode too, so they support
analog FM also.

We have spent hours tuning the duplexer, and find that it makes the

Anyone have any ideas? Are our crude methods of tuning the duplexer
too crude?
I would say yes. I've done UHF cans with my service monitor for the signal
generator (very adjustable) and an HT to receive it on, and been moderately
successful. However, your individual mileage may very, if
NO. You will create more problems.

You seem to want to lump what is characteristically a complex impedance

non conducting RF output transistor is an open circuit because the
transistor is not having any RF drive

There is no way you can tune a duplexer with a power meter or swr meter.
They are not sensitive enough to see the low level signals even if your
signal source is a good size transmitter.
You can use a receiver tuned to the frequency you are trying to notch out.
Your signal source then should be a
Ok guys ... here is what I found.
It is not Motorola proprietary format, but rather it is ETSI (European
Technical Standards Institute) (standard number ETSI TS102 361-1). It is a
DQPSK scheme. This is a published standard, and I just might start pursuing
its use rather than D-star at this
I'll be anxiously awaiting your findings Glenn. I know Motorola is
selling and shipping Test Kits to dealers at this time. I also
learned that orders are being placed for the units, but it is more a
waiting line at this point in time. I was led to believe that only
the Test Kits are being
Thanks for the info James!
I'm also serious about pursuing one of these systems as well. I
wonder if we can get a discount going here for multiple units. I'm
anxiously awaiting Glens (W8AK) hands on findings.

Hello,
Has anyone decoded the PROM used in the Paging Synthesizer for the
Motorola PURC station?
The PROM part is TRN5814A and it is used to select the frequency that the
PLL will lock to.
Alternativaly, does anyone have the capability to program a PROM for this
station?
If you are tuning a pass/notch type duplexer you must always tune the pass
part first then tune the notch last. Never touch the pass part of the tuning
again after you have finished with the notch. You may need to go back and
forth sometimes but the notch should always be the last thing that you

In the days before the cushman ce50tg, I used an FM10CS with a bearcat
scanner to set pass and reject on BpBr duplexers. Be sure and use a 50 Ohm
10 db attenuator on each port to normalize mismatch between the duplexer
port and the antenna port on the bearcat, or the generator and the duplexer.
