Has anyone gotten around this issue yet? I am trying to install on
Centos 5 but I suspect the same problem would occur on other distros.
Can I just manually add the rpms then do a utconfig?

Well, it looks like the OSS model of sound used by the utadem kernel
module has been depricated in the 2.6.35 kernel for linux. Thus, there
is no /dev/dsp or /dev/mixer and the soundcore kernel module does not
supply the register_sound_mixer or register_sound_dsp entry points that
utadem uses.
I have a new Ubuntu 10.10 installation that is running the latest patches from

could use the ALSA drivers and get sound using pulseaudio. However, we have an

Depends on who you ask. utcapture says there is loss, but the switch says there
is none.

Any news on when the patches will be available to use SRSS 5.2 on Ubuntu 11.04?
Also, is any one using the unity environment for gnome? I presume gnome, but
was just wondering.

I am getting ready to upgrade my Ubuntu 10.04 system from 4.2 patch to 5.2. I
was hoping to go to 11.04 but that does not seem possible at this time.
So, what is the best way to upgrade from 4.2 patched to 5.2? I guess the real
numbers are SUNWut*-4.2-78 to SUNWut*-4.3-50.
Thanks,
Matthew
