En effet dans mon cas j'ai laissé car c'était du warterway=river. Je laisse
les riverbank quand ils sont permanents et je mets river quand c'est plus
large qu' 1m.
Le choix entre steam et river et des fois un peut limite... Mais j'aimerai
bien savoir comment vous déterminez votre choix.

Ca me semble la meilleure approche aussi, tout comme on le fait avec
maxspeed=* sur le tronçon et éventuellement un panneau à mapper sur le
côté. En début/fin de tronçon on a potentiellement un panneau.
Ensuite pour faire le lien entre les deux (tronçon et panneau), à part
une relation je ne vois

That seems to more accurately describe the situation, so I'd suggest using
that tag.
I wouldn't use cycleway=lane since I'd expect that to be marked as such.
