I am trying to create a document with two separate tickets within
it, each within their own column. As a mail merge attempt, I have
duplicate tickets with the same fields out of a simple Calc database
and want to have record 1 fields in the first ticket, and record 2

My suggestion is to load the file to writer. use search and replace and
replace the spaces with a single comma thus making the file a csv file
which will automatically be loaded in separate columns. Save from writer
as csv.

The suite works very well, when I open the calc the display is set to
very small. The cells are very small and tightly packed into the sheet.
