Cool idea, but I would still advise against using a healthy system for
this purpose.

Trim off all the now useless bits poking into the

glue some plastic sheet in the back so the water can
 be filled

For the front window, find a way to crack the tube
 safely then
cut the front off. Clean off the phosphor coating and
 glue it
 in its original location.

Print out and hot laminate a black and white desktop
 screenshot
for the back of the tank then use only black and white
 fish for
 a Fyshtem 6 look. ;)

2005-12-25 Thread Samual Acorn
no no no no tube poppage... trust me... it would be easier to
make a lexan mold in the shape of the tube front than to attempt
that mainly because of the seriously high voltage the tube holds
and the potential to get a facefull of glass if it implodes 'the wrong
way'.. also the glass has lead in it... not sure how well the fish
would appreciate that...

I like you're style but it sounds like a lot of work. I like the idea
of using the actual tube for the front. I think the fewest changes to
the outside look would be best. I may know where I can get some SEs to
try it.

I'll let you know what I find out.

Hi All,

I've just acquired an old Mac SE (part of a lot deal) and originally
was going to gut it and build something more modern inside but it does
power up and the more I contemplate it the more I feel a bit
conflicted
about the idea of modding it. OTOH I have no real use for it in its
original

form. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

You haven't seen the pictures? There are probably hundreds of
Macquariums out there... I would, however, save any useful systems and
only use dead/salvaged machines for such a purpose.

Find someone who's got a dead or empty SE, and keep the good one or
give it to someone who will appreciate it in its original form.
