I want to use VNC Server on a PC where Norton Personal Firewall 2003 is installed. VNC

TCP communication on this port. Even whith that, Personnal Firewall refuse saying :

A couple of observations:
1) VNC server is based on old X11 code base.
2) server does all rendering in user space mem

Hey Guys,
I have couple of questions regarding VNC client/server setup.
1) What is the easiest way to play wav a files across a Vnc
server - client

not using vnc. See if there is a streaming audio format

So, which WM will do it all for us? We need:

Simplest way to do this is to add a line to your vnc server startup
script:

Hi,
I am just trying to use my very old linux based PC, x486, as a display/control

Is it possible to run vncviewer with a very thin X Server.
I liked the idea about Xvnc which includes 'X Server + VNC Server'.
Is it possible to have something of

Should be possible, provided it has sufficient memory (say 32 MB or more)

Not that it matters much, but it's character 007 that's licensed to beep.

How can I chose NOT to install vnc viewer? I don't want this option

Fred,
This is a problem we have observed as well. I'm sure you notice that
the CPU of your Windows VNC client goes through the roof as it attempts
to do things such as redraws. It is not a network issue at all, it is
in the Windows client itself.
I spent a lot of time working with the folks at

Hi,
I am quite new to vnc and have a tough problem with the vncviewer(linux)
connecting to a vncserver(w98se).
I found several similar issues in the list-archive but no solutions.
I can connect to the vncserver just fine. I can do so using
a)vncviewer myhost
or
b) vncviewer -fullscreen
I have been looking into this for a while.
Basically, if you have a SSH tunnel open for your VNC connection (which you are doing,
right) you can direct the appropriate alert through the tunnel to the client on the
other side.
A good place to look, at least for the Linux/Unix side, is NAS:

There is a free software program called autocutsel.

I'm presently using WinVNC (server) 3.3.4 as a service on four Windows 2000
servers. On two of these the Send Ctrl-Alt-Del option works as intended,
allowing me to lock the console. However on the other two this option is
unresponsive, i.e. the task menu simply does not appear at all.
