I had to hardreboot my laptop was totaly unresponsive to any input. Now that I
have rebooted I can login with kdm but after that I have no desktop. I can open
applications with krunner (alt+f2) but thats it. All the applications looks
okay. Any ideas as to how I can resolve this?

alt-F2 followed by info:/grub2, man:/grub2 or #grub2
Info pages work a lot better when converted to HTML, they actually become

Well, you can always switch to classic view by right-clicking on the K.
I concur it’s a lot of "Klicki-bunti", as we say in Germany (bunt=colourful).
The only usability plus for the new type is the input field, but that’s
already covered by KRunner.

Same symptom as you - plasma stops updating it's widgets like clocks and

The kind of failure is important to finding the cause. I have something
similar - when I copy many large files over wireless to my NFS share
using dolphin, the gui is often stalls and stops responding to mo

no internet connection at all. The lights on my
modem didn't even blink nor did the router. The browser responded to me
switching tabs and such tho.

but show other parts of the desktop.
- Needs double logins for FTP .
- Sometimes does not update the display after uploading files via FTP.
- Does not allow to download files with umlauts via FTP (I have to do this
regularly)
