I've updated installation part (see in the repo).
I'm going to add "long version" for compilations, to explain
how to configure to build all, shared or static only, with/without 
burried headers, etc.

I would definitely appreciate if you (or anyone) could review and spot 
missing or incorrect bits.

Yes, after release is good.
Actually, Doxygen is good for the API part, but it kind of sucks
if you want to write more elaborate essays explaining design, 
architecture, installation, performance tips, etc.
In Boost.Geometry project, we parse Doxygen XML output with our own 
tools and I would say...I think it would be easier to write 
documentation manually in Boost Quickbook files and have complete
control on it :-)
