I've been persisting with OpenERP for a year now, trying to set it up for my side-line business. I'm using Quickbooks still.
I still haven't got as far as setting up the accounts (anyone here heard of IFRS? Don't have it Belgium or what?!) Lately I've been looking around the Launchpad, trying (hopelessly) to install some of those supposedly 500+ modules. I have grave concerns about the bugs in OpenERP, and the lacklustre effort at fixing them. And the strange release cycle. I also cannot figure out what is happening with the project ... what is OpenObject compared to OpenERP. It all seems to me like a bunch of very smart geeks coming up with cool ideas, doing a half-assed job on them, and moving on. So many modules and features, so little support. We have a saying "spread yourself too thin" But my biggest worry is that OpenERP/OO is going to fork off soon, because it seems very tightly controlled by Tiny (anyone remember Compiere/Adempiere split?) I've read comments in the Launchpad from integrators saying they cannot use "stable" branch for clients. I really need to be sure, if I sign up as a partner, and invest any more time into learning OpenERP, that I can make money off it by implementing it for clients!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have only looked briefly at OpenBRAVO, so they might be worse :( ... but can anyone reassure me about coming on board with OpenERP? -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openobject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=50435#50435 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman2/listinfo/tinyerp-users
