Didn't some of those machines (the 5200-6300s) have a ROM problem that kept them from working in OS 8? I think there was a program that Apple put out to run to determine whether you had 1 of them. Then, if it was the case, they either had a chip replacement program (but probably not any more), or a ROM flasher of some sort...although I may be getting confused with the flashable ROM on New World machines.
