Take a look at lowendmac & scroll down to where it says "Final Notes": <http://www.lowendmac.com/tech/x200.shtml> There is also a x200/x300 test program found here: <http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Engl ish-North_American/Macintosh/System/CPU_Specific_Updates/52xx-53xx-62xx-63xx/> but from your description you have the rom problem that was one of the issues with these machines.
