With soap a licence is required on server side. Not the same licence as the web 
server but same price. The soap server can be the 4D server itself or a 4d 
remote connected to the server, there's a special licence for that - we've used 
this solution recently because we needed to isolate the service in a dmz. 

About SQL in my previous post, such a connection uses a legacy client licence.
