Jody:

Same story in BC.

Nova Scotia is curious. 3 years ago, they decided that the radiologists should
submit claims electronically instead of on paper. You had the capital region
(all around Halifax), and the community based groups related to specific
hospitals. There are 8 such groups. All the data comes from the radiology
information system, so I helped them format the export files. We ended up
picking up 7 of the groups. Plus two other groups that are not radiologists.

We also have a couple of ophthalmologists. And, yes, the province would prefer
one vendor. One ophthalmologist was on the provincial doctor’s computer
committee. He asked one of the big vendors about modifications for the health
record to accommodate eye exams - every test is paired - right eye, left eye.
The response was, if you bring us ALL of the ophthalmologists, THEN we will
talk about changes. That approach didn’t work.

And, now, with all of the radiologists we serve, the government sees us as a
major player - they have screwed up twice updating there security certificates.
Now they call me about it ahead of time.

And, the radiologists all run PC’s in the hospital. But they can’t install our
software on the hospital computers as that would be a benefit to one doctor
versus someone else to bills differently. So, I find that many are Mac users at
home. And, with 4D, no problem.
