Hi Gustin :) >> I'm afraid to be the next one who needs to install Windows, Cubase and >> Halion. >> > > That is your choice. I am not sure you and I share the same definition of > the the word "need". >
It's not a choice :(. It was my choice to say, that I don't want to use Windows, but since that time, for several years, I wasn't able to produce music at home. The only MIDI sequencer that MIGHT work, is Qtractor, but fluidsynth, neither the DSSI, nor Qsynth, are stable, when I will edit something, e.g. try to change the soundfont. Rosegarden, MusE, Non Sequencer and Dino don't work. I'm not interested in LMMS and Seq24, also I'm not interested in Non Sequencer and Dino, I would like to have Rosegarden, MusE or Qtractor stable, resp. any sequencer on that level of functionality. If I will produce music at home, I NEED to install Windows or I NEED to repair my Atari ST equipment and than I NEED stable applications, e.g. Ardour and Fluidsynth, that will be in sync with the Atari ST. I can't say much about animation, because I have less experiences in doing that at home. For anything else, but music and maybe video too, I will prefer Linux. I can clutch at straws, try to use Linux again and again ... by the way, here is a straw: M2A-VM HDMI BIOS 2201 Fixed select frame buffer size 256/512/1024MB system always reset. Fixed the error beep is incorrect while Hardware Monitor error. Fixed system hang on post 8bh if connect test fail in DOS mode. Patch RTL8111B PCIE lan can't be tetected if power off more than 30 minutes. It's from the 10th of November and I have installed the BIOS version, that is the one before this version, but reading about those fixes and the patch, I don't think it will solve my troubles with Linux audio. Because there aren't a lot differences for the problems I've got with Linux audio, resp. MIDI, between 64 Studio 2.1 2.6.21 and 2.6.24 and the 64 Studio 2.1 Lenny 2.6.21 (that Lenny version is a little bit broken) and Suse 11.0 2.6.25 (the best Linux I've got at the moment), I don't think it will be solved by 64 Studio 3.0. I'm afraid to change my mobo again. I have less money and I don't know what mobo will be fine. Intel in Germany was and I guess is much more expensive, so I would hold my AMD CPU.
