Hm, reading http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ubuntu-804-usb-hard-drive-install/, a full hard disk like install to an USB stick seems to shorten the lifetime of the stick. In this howto it's also recommended to disconnect the hard disks, when doing the install. There are some other levels of installs to an USB stick, but the install equal to an install to a hard disk, seems to need the disconnection of the hard disks and seems to shorten the USB stick's lifetime. I guess this is the way I'll try to install 64 Studio 3.0 beta2 to an USB stick, but instead of installing Hardy first, I'll try to directly install 64 Studio. ??? I have to wait until I've got my order, in the meantime I puzzle over the usage of a swap etc.. 8GB USB sticks that are slow, are very cheap in Germany, so there is no need to take care of the lifetime because of the money, there might be other reasons to wish to have a long lifetime. I'm not sure if it's a stupid luxury or not, to have a Linux on a stick. But why not doing something stupid?
