I like your config idea with the exception of the forward. If you
could redirect instead that would be cleaner.

Just recently gmail has enabled POP retrieval (at least for me) I'm
going to stop the redirect I have on all my domains temporarily and
then upload my mail back (via IMAP) to the servers that I have
downloaded prior to having a gmail account. Then I can have all my
mail in one place with the original time/date/sender/subject in place.
My gmail is at 2.8GB available 200MB used and I think I can use about
1GB of it. I have no need for 182GB of mail space even if it is only
$8. Generally speaking, I trust Google. I know their not going
anywhere and I know they will respect my privacy within reason.
Besides it would be my fault if I put something up there I didn't want
shared.

Unless you are a graphic artist or really into warez does anyone
really need more then 3GB of email storage?

$8/mo gets you over 182GB of storage and almost two terabytes of
bandwidth per month.

I will probably get it, just so I can IMAP my gmail account (create new
IMAP account on host, forward email to new account, set gmail to archive
after forwarding, set Thunderbird's outgoing mail server to
"smtp.gmail.com")
