Believe I have heard of other services with this clause as well.
While it may raise an eyebrow with me, people honestly can not expect
that data they do not protect themselves using their own tools and
hardware to not be distributed across the internet. Even then if the
data is shared you really have very little expectation of privacy.
Mostly this type of clause also screams "lawyer covering posterior"
as unless google physically destroys every shred of hardware,
demagnetizes it, and reduces it to its elemental atoms data could in
theory remain retrievable.
