I think I'm using the std upas (although with planb mailboxes) with apple mail.
IIRC, what I did the last time I had problems was to enable imap4d diagnostics
(don't remember if a flag or I did put some prints). That gives you an
exact idea of
all the madness regarding mail movements that apple does.
