Well it looks like attempting to 'region free' the drive has screwed
up the firmware.  I don't see any value in backing up messed up firmware.
You should use the Liteon provided Windows flash program to reprogram
the firmware.  I've used it many times without problems, just close
all your applications befor doing it.  There's really little risk of
messing up the drive any more than is currently is.  If necessary, you
can always replace this DVD-ROM drive for about $30 at current prices.
