Most of the time the first responders from any tech company are those with the least [if any] training. And they seem often to be encouraged to get rid of you with excuses. [I won't go into my experiences with Ameritech over my DSL connection. I don't think that the length of your pone extension has anything to do with your problem. On the other hand if you the cable or the connector are loose that could drop the connection. So I would examine the cable and connectors to make certain that the are firmly attached to the cable. Better yet, try another cable. That could solve the problem. Also make certain that the modem card is plugged into it's slot firmly. Do this with the computer power turned off. You may have to open the case in order to push the card down into the slot. You may nat be able to be certain that it is firmly in the slot without opening the case. Another place to check is the telephone jack on the wall. If this was installed without due care it might be loose. You could try a different phone outlet if one is available. If none of these actions solves the problem it could be telco equipment that is at fault, either on your site or on theirs. But keep in mind that if they send out a 'tech' and the find the problem on your premises they will want to charge for the call. > Do I moved my computer and I have hated where it is since.
