Your computer spec or computer "power" have nothing to do with your problem. It is your ISP and Tiscali is not one to be recommended. All you can do is insist that your ISP contact your phone company and they will or should do sort it. If they wont help, change ISP but in Tiscali's case, that's difficult:( It is also possible your phone line will not support 1Mbps ADSL but again Tiscali should be able to tell you that but probably wont.
Re. Adobe. Just remove any reference to Adobe from your start-up programs. It is a default setting, harmless and you don't need it. Rick BTW: Just do a quick test.
