Have you tried different USB connections/port?

I thought that too.

I'm currently using a Dell mouse. I bought a Logitech mouse because I
thought maybe this mouse had just died. Wrong. And that's the one with
the Ps/2 connector that has rabies.

This one dies, but no where near as much as the brand new
Logitech..but this one happens a lot too.

I think it might be IRQ, orjust the USB dying. I haven't tested any
other devices with USB. That's hard to do (no, I don't have a USB
keyboard) because nothing uses the ports as much as a mouse..
