Theresa,

Your problems sound like what can be caused by the system overheating. Make 
sure that there is not a lot of dirt inside the case, especially around the 
fan and the processor. You can vacuum it out or in some place where the 
blowing dirt won't cause problems, including health ones and blow the dirt 
out. I tend to prefer a vacuum cleaner with a plastic crevass tool.
