Maybe Restore was turned off. Hi: If there is a problem with the Operating system, I suggest doing a "Windows inplace reinstallation". This will repair Windows without changing anything else on the PC. Boot from the Windows CD and follow instructions. Avoid anything that suggest a format or reformat.
