the computer should be automatically creating restore points. And it doesn't seem to be doing this, which is what Jim mentioned, but according to my son, the computer gives him the impression that it is. So if there is nothing that he can switch on, can he reinstall XP without erasing what he has on his drive or does he have to back everything up first and then reinstall it?
