Paris,
>Oh you of little faith,
That quote works better if you quote from the KJ version and use Ye
instead of You. :-)
>thats why I received the confirmation that it eorks,
That's why I asked, it seems like such a poor security thing. What good
is an admin password that is so easy to bypass.
At least a user need not worry that if he forgets his admin. pass that
he won't be able to get back in. :-)
>why do you have to concen yourself with things that have not been
posted for your benefit?
I've never seen any rules about posting to threads not originally posted
to me.
>I can see the point if it was a suggestion that would damage someone's
computer,
But if someone else gets into a computer using that method he MIGHT
damage the computer or gain access to files that he shouldn't. I was
just expressing doubt while thinking that you must believe that it would
work. I have to try it on my own machine to be ceratin, but I have no
reason now to doubt that it will.
>but as it is completely benign, work or not it does no harm.
That depends on who gets into the computer that way.
> You may just put people off trying the perfect solution.
With all the concerns about computer security these days I would not
call this a perfect solution. Yes, it is good for a person to get back
into his own computer. And in a situation where the computer is not
accessable by any one with nefarious intent it is probably not a bad
thing. But what about a computer in an office where there is competition
among the office mates? It could be a problem. But knowing this could
forearm those in such a situation.
