You cannot upgrade 2000 to XP because they are not the same system. Yes you need to reformat and install the XP. Best to back up your personal data files.

Semi-Computer Dummy here. I have my main 'puter running Win2000-SP4. I would Like to update it to XP-Pro. Can anyone tell me How I can upgrade? I tried my XP install disk, but It comes up and states that I can not upgrade from Win2000. Does this mean that I have to delete everything, Reformat the drive and start over? Thanks for any insight, it is appreciated.
