Hi Robert -
As far as I know, there is 'no' way your files could get changed just by
burning them to a cd, and then dragging them onto the new computer.
Wordpad saves files with the extension .rtf (last 3 letters of the
filename). Do the files you put on the new computer still have the .rtf
extension?
If you can't see the extension letters, Vista might be set to hide
them. Try this to un-hide them:
1. Click *Start*
2. Select *Control Panel*
3. Select *Classic View*
4. Double-click *Folder Options*
5. Click the *View* Tab
6. Uncheck *Hide Extensions for Known File Types*
7. Click *Apply* button (at the bottom of the window)
8. Click *Apply to Folders* button (at the top of the window)
9. Click *OK
* Now, if your files still have the .rtf extension you should be able
to open them in Wordpad on your Vista computer, and they should look
exactly like they did on your old Win98 computer.
Go to Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click
Wordpad. Now you should be able to open your files and they should look
fine?
You shouldn't have to convert them at all.
Good luck,
Donk
