You can't use your Dell. Or do you mean that you can't copy data from  
the old machine. If the latter, that's easy to fix. Your Dell no doubt  
has an IDE bus to plug in the old hard drive, but you may need to get  
a ribbon cable for the drive.

I still assume that you are talking about the old machine. Don't clear  
out anything, just move the hard drive to the new Dell and copy data  
files to the Dell. You won't be able to copy applications of course.  
There is software that will do that, I never use it, I just make  
certain that I have the install programs.
