I Would say that 1 Gig or ram is probably minimum for Vista, XP may
get by on half a Gig but it might be sluggish on some things. It won't
matter much what files you have collected except that if they are
video or other files that take a lot of resources that might affect
performance. These days ram is pretty inexpensive and so I'd just put
a Gig into the machine. If it already has half a Gig you may be able
to just add another half. Most people like crucial.com for ram. At
least they make finding what you need pretty easy.
