If 98 is slow then so will Vista and even XP. It probably means that  
you need more ram. 512 Meg has been the standard minimum for some time  
but I think that 1 G is probably better. It strikes me that if you  
have 98 you may have a very old machine. And that could suggest that  
neither XP nor Vista will perform very well.

Mostly it will be about doing the same things you do with 98 but maybe  
in different way. I

That depends on how little savvy you have. If you can use 98 pretty  
well you probably should not have much trouble other than with the  
things that have changed. And then you should be able to use help to  
find those things out.
