Hi. I haven't been keeping up with all of this, but now you got me wondering about how to install more RAM since my computer announces that Windows is short on memory and will automatically increase it for me. If you've discussed now to install more RAM in previous posts, please excuse me, just tell me and I'll look for the discussion. Thank you.

Depending on what the cost is, sometimes you can add it after the fact easily (like plugging the computer in, hardest part is getting the tower open and the part number right) and cheaply. If you can afford to max it out go for it! I have 2 on mine and am thinking about upgrading to 4 just for the heck of it! My old desktop that is ready for a wheelchair ... like 10 years old a dinosaur for real has XP professional and is maxed out at 392 M of RAM still runs at a reasonable speed! However that is on DSL...on dial up it was awful! That is my husband's computer and he doesn't know the difference! (Shhhh, don't tell him anything either!) ----- Original Message ----- From: jpurcell To: A-1-Computer_ [EMAIL PROTECTED] .com Sent: Saturday, November 08, 2008 2:21 PM Subject: Re: [A-1-Computer_ Tech] Dell - Vista Shelly?, > Ok..so how much Ram should I make sure it has? I Would say that 1 Gig or ram is probably minimum for Vista, XP may get by on half a Gig but it might be sluggish on some things. It won't matter much what files you have collected except that if they are video or other files that take a lot of resources that might affect performance. These days ram is pretty inexpensive and so I'd just put a Gig into the machine. If it already has half a Gig you may be able to just add another half. Most people like crucial.com for ram. At least they make finding what you need pretty easy.
