You've got a program trying to start at bootup that is missing a file. It's apparently the program that automatically checks for updates from Compaq. I would suggest that you just disable the utility rather than trying to fix it - every program that runs in the background slows your system performance a bit. To disable it go to Start, Run, and type MSCONFIG. (In Vista just type MSCONFIG in the search box.) Click the Startup tab. Un-check the entry for either Backweb or Compaq Connections. Click OK and reboot. Upon reboot you'll see a message stating that you made changes to the Startup tab. Just check the box to "do not show this message again".
There are probably other items on the startup tab you can uncheck. Here's a website where you can look each item up and find out what they do - and if you need to have them running in the background all the time: http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php Good luck, Donk clean_boost wrote: > When I start my computer from scratch, I get a message that says: > "Runner file name (CompaqConnections.exe) lacks a '-' (the app id > separator)" Then I click OK and it continues.
