Well, this is probably beyond my abilities right now. I live in the 
middle of nowhere, and its the only computer available right now. 
Doing this would require me to take it in somewhere and most likely 
pay to have it done. Not really willing to go there right now. I 
mean, the computer works fine except I cannot reboot from restart.  
It was purchased brand new from HP like t his. I am the dumb one for 
not insisting on taking it back and now its too late. Are you saying 
this is a virus that was purchased with the computer????  I do have 
two hard drives on the computer now, one is slave, and its where I 
back up and store all my files. The drive that is messing up is the 
one with the OS on it. The secondary drive has no OS. At this point 
if that were the case it would be much easier to just buy a new hard 
drive and format it. I have just never seen a problem like this one. 
I think I will try changing the boot drive sequence first. I had the 
same idea as Donk but was a bit nervous on trying it.
