Theresa, I don't comment much(more read to learn something I might have
missed), but this caught eye. Having one's e-mail on-line, or off-line,
is a 50/50. Yes, I understand the suggestion that Gmail may solve your
problem. Then again, while solving one problem, it could create a host
of new problems. On-line, you don't get to make the decision about
e-mail security. If someone wants' to see my e-mail so badly, I would
rather, they try to hack my network at home, than a website. My Yahoo
e-mail address, I only keep as a secondary account, but I rarely check
it. My ex actually had to get a new Yahoo ID about two years ago, when
I noticed her e-mail was hacked(we were members of the same discussion
forum).

I understand what is being said about the filters. Sometimes the
filters will save multiple copies of one e-mail, one particular but
different detail in each filter. For instance, if someone had one
folder for 'Depression', and one folder for 'Weather', if the word
'depression' is somehow key to each filter, the e-mail will be copied to
both folders.

As for Gmail and Tbird syncing, I agree with Donk about the dial-up
connection being the cause. Not just the speed. But also, with a
dial-up connection, you have to 'trick' the ISP servers into technically
thinking you are still online doing something, so the connection doesn't
get cut from inactivity. With Tbird, you can set it up to do periodic
mail download checks, in order to sustain the connection. When I had a
dial-up connection, I also added the virus scanner updates to the mix,
all to fool the servers into thinking I was online all that time.
