The Norton thing just sounds like a problem with their software - not your PC. I would ask them about it. This link might work to either do a live chat or email their support team: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-core/current/contact
Glad the disk check found no errors, but... 5 or 6 hours sounds like a little longer than it should have taken. Unless you've got a terabyte drive or bigger. If you still get the SMART error on bootup I would still talk to Best Buy and try to get a new drive under warranty. The running slow thing might just be because you've got a lot of programs running in the background. Go to Start and type MSCONFIG into the search box. This will open the ms config utility. Click the Startup tab. Every item with a check mark starts running at boot and keep running. Too many of these will def slow you down. If you've got a lot - maybe more than 8 or 10 - go here and look each item up to see if it's something you "need" to have running all the time: http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php Just type the item into the search box and it will tell you what it is. Uncheck as many items as you can then reboot and see if the pc is a little peppier. Donk On 9/29/2013 7:12 AM, seez...@att.net wrote: > Thanks for your help.
