Oh me of little faith! Thanks for the coordinates. Yes, I see
MusiXTeX is alive and healthy, and a lot has changed since the last
version I picked up, which was, of course, the version current at the time
of the last edition of abc2mtex. It looks as if most of the basics are the
same, but there have been additions (e.g. Gregorian chant) and the lyric
handling is more flexible. It's probably still compatible with abc2mtex;
but does anyone know for sure? I'd hate to install it and then find out
that it breaks abc2mtex. The latest version I've seen is T.98.

I'd be happy to do what I can. I'll certainly send you something.
I've been looking over the documentation. Multiple staves and voices look
to be simpler than I'd remembered, while lyrics look more difficult :-(
Lyrics seem to be a basic weakness in MusixTeX (tho ironically not in the
outmoded MusicTeX) and I suspect they'll require a fair amount of
experimentation, if indeed it's possible to do them really satisfactorily.
There are some good examples in the MusiXTeX docs; however, I suspect they
would not be easy to duplicate automatically---the MusiXTeX shows signs of
quite a bit of human intervention. I don't know anything about M-TX. Can
it be integrated with MusiXTeX? I'll take a look at all this as soon as I
can find a little time....(famous last words...)
