The current text of ABC 2.0 does not allow either.

Ad. 1: "Comments can not be included on lines that end
with a backslash."

Ad. 2: "A '%' symbol will cause the remainder of any
input line to be ignored."

Bryans alternative proposal didn't seem unreasonable,
if he can clearly indicate how pseudo comments should
be parsed.
