I feel this person must be expelled from the group. As Kiran said, democracy doesn't mean anarchy or disregard for rules. I dislike the language of the person in question. He certainly can't think he thinks or does more than what we are capable of thinking or doing for ourselves.
BTW, Kiran, don't know if this mail can be directly sent to the list. Since you have asked us to comment on this, I thought I can as well do on the list. I and surely many others have complete faith in your moderation and I feel you have responded the most appropriate way in this case. Subramani -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kiran Kaja Sent: Sunday, August 13, 2006 9:26 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AI] Promise Yourself *********************** No virus was detected in the attachment no filename Your mail has been scanned by InterScan MSS. *********************** Dear list members, Over the past five years or so of AccessIndia's existence, I have had to painfully moderate a lot of discussions on the list. Sometimes I had to use strong language to desist people from starting strong arguments on why a topic should or should not be discussed on the list. So far, most of you did not have any problem with my attitude towards running the list. But from my e-mail below, I get a feeling that some of you were not happy with the way I handled the motivational mumbo jumbo. Yes, I still insist that it is mumbo jumbo. How many of use haven't received such e-mails daily in our inbox? If Onkar wants, I can spam his mailbox with mumbo jumbo like this till he stops checking his e-mail out of frustration. But I understand from Onkar's mail that some of us or at least one of us is not happy with the way the issue is handled. If any of you think like that, please let me know immediately. I have always administered the list on majority opinion and all good suggestions from each and every member have been implemented if found useful and relevant. I appreciate people telling me openly if they have any concerns. I hate those who say things behind my back. Yes Onkar, India is a Democracy. But it is no where mentioned that democracy means unlimited freedom. If so, you should not be punished or fined for driving your car on the wrong side of the road or walking in the middle of one. In democracy, you are supposed to adhere to certain rules and regulations to obtain your freedom. Like other democratic institutions, AccessIndia too has a set of rules and guidelines which have been sent to you when you joined the list. When you do not follow these rules and regulations, you will of course be intimated and necessary action will be taken. Please refer to the exact definition of Democracy before commenting on it. I have already put forward my view on the language that I use in my moderated mails. One can't argue when one has violated the regulations. Yes Onkar, you are an ignorent person in your own way. I am sorry to say this but you do not realize the true potential and abilities and needs of the visually impaired persons. All your mails indicate that you lack proper understanding of what some of us have achieved already. Your helping hand is appreciated but not your high handedness. We may use your technology if it is good. It doesn't mean that you are the only savier of the blind in the entire world. To hell with it, you are much far from it in your actions as well as thinking. I am sorry again to say that you are totally blind and not our community. We clearly know what our abilities are. We clearly know how to help each other and we clearly know how to use technology and words for our benefits. We have seen the light of the day. It is people like you who lack vision. To give you an example, Dinesh Kaushal has contirbuted to the development of a free screen reader which can potentially help blind persons get jobs and earn money. Numerous organizations have toiled decades to provide access to books and education. What have you done so far except some technical mumbo jumbo the concepts of which have been copied from somewhere anyway. Seeing with sound project has been existing from years now. If you think you can eradicate blindness through projects like this, you better go and look for another job. You are no fit serving in the blindness community influencing other ignorent people with your ignorence. As per your braille embosser idea, it sounds good but I would like organizations to be using it before I can comment on it. But if it is so simple, why are people paying thousands of dollars for braille embossers. I am tired of projects like these. You should start talking once you have a good working model that really works. Games are good but this is no new idea. Games for the blind have been existing for so many years. And there are free ones too. While I appreciate the effort you put in for developing the games, I don't agree that games have started with you. I don't care who helped you create these projects or the number of people involved. I don't care how many sleepness nights you put in to create them. You are not the only one who puts in sleepless nights. There are a lot of us who work harder than you. But we are not so mean to say that since we have put in sleepless nights, the technology is great or people should use it. All of the other stuff you write in your e-mail is pure crap. You should really start doing something that benefits us rather than sending mumbo jumbo and writing all sort of idiotic crap. And to all who read this, if you do not like the way I run the list or how I moderate messages and if the majority thinks I am wrong, I am happy to make someone else the moderator. But if that is the case, I won't pay for the running of the list or the feature rich accessindia website that is being designed as I write this. This topic is open for discussion. Thanks and regards, Kiran. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Omkar Nisal Sent: Saturday, August 12, 2006 11:56 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AI] Promise Yourself Dear Group, Its been an amazing experience being with you all! I have never had such respect, care, attention and love from you all Thank you so very much! each and every one of you! YES YOU TOO !! I am extremely sorry to disturb you with my motivational mumbo jumbo! Hahahaha! I loved the term! fantastic! Thank you Mr Kaja. If you might have forgotten, let me be previlldged to remind you that we live in democratic country and every one has right to express...and just like our very own dear Mr Kiran Kaja had a right to speak whatever cute things he wanted to speak, I too have to do the same and I shall exercise it with out any fear or regrets what so ever! So I am jolly well ignoring an extremely pleasing request of Mr Kaja of not replying to his splendid email! I mean how can I demean and disrespect that email with an reply!? NO chance at all! I would like to really applaud to the language and way of putting forth things by Mr Kaja and ofcourse so enthusiastic participation of the entire group! I am sure your group will go places... and be the best in the world! Surely! I believe it would be quite embarrasing for all of the highly intelligent and respected members to have an ignorant and simple person like me talking in the group. Right? Thus to save all the trouble which all the esteeemed members of this community must surely might of been facing while I was making a futile attempt to extend a helping hand in various ways.. I will no longer write in this group. (but I will definitely not be mute with out saying what I have to say!) I crazily though that I could share the goodness of life, words, technology which are so very inseprable from each other. But thanks to Mr Kaja.. I am brutally shaken to reality of the fact that how this community is indeed blind in many apects of life.. not just to light or colors! ( I did see what an amazing response we people have given to technological posts... which was the reason I joined this community! Mind blowing! its really very encouraging!!! each and every person in the community replied to the games post that Ms Mamta has submitted! I would really like to extend my personal thanks to each and every one of you! thank you thank you so very much for trying out those games which I personally made staying up late in nights for hours together! I thought my efforts were all drained down the lane.. but you saved me from feeling this void! so kind of you! yes each one of you! thank you!!! a personal thank you!) Well I now understand how stupid I am! I am sorry i wasted so much of YOUR ultra precious time!! Some people had wisely told me to keep away from AI. But like a fool I wanted to give every one a chance. one my dear friend specially called me up after reading reply to my post and told me to forget caring about 'Indian' people. ( I believe that is the only another different person in this group!) Any way, some how I have a feeling that with a heavy heart I have to accept this reality that we Indians indeed do not care about each other .. especially about their feelings! (Just take this email for example! do I care about you or your feelings!? Not really! Thats why I said WE Indians and wrote one of the most sarcastic emails of my life! ) Thanks a lot for letting a useless person like me be part of AI. I mean so what I written a software that can convert english text directly to braille which can be printed on simple dot matrix printer which can work as braille embosser! who cares? so what if I have personally conducted mroe than 300+ experiments to achieve this, so what if I have spend many a sleep less nights toiling to create an algorithm to convert coloured digital images to sound. so what if mroe than 500 people are helping me with this project globally? so what if this project has potential to eradicate blindness from earth? so what if a special hardware is being build to achieve this feat in less than 10$ (500 Rs) of manufacturing cost? My friend Anjali beautifully explained to me how most of us (i.e. we Indians) usually think! [ofcourse our group is NOT included in these 'most of us' ] Here it is: Are the americans or british people praising the invention? no we dont trust ourselvess! we were slaves to British people... we will continute to do so! thats basically our motto of life! thats why we will not accept it nor we will support it neither will be take interest in it untill our masters.. i.e. british or american people praises it.. and puts a price tag that is far out of reach of most elite people too... and when that happens.. we can sit and cry and beg for help! some one doing the same for free!?? then that must be not worth it! we are typical Indian!! We would rather beg! and we are proud of it! why should we care about a fellow indian who left a very lucarative occupation and working day in and day out like a maniac for so called good of man kind! Totally idiot person he is! isnt he!? Right! Jai Hind! Its amazing being with you all ! Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------- Thank you for taking time to read this email. I better be off to help the Visually challenged people outside India who are not as intelligent, kind, helping, participative, accepting, charming, cheerful, welcoming, EXTREMELY understanding, co-operative, sweet, jolly souls as most of us here are! All the best and May God bless us all with affluence and abundance of everything that we want!
