If you have a dedicated volunteer group, I think this shouldn't be a
problem. I often assumed that such groups are very active in Mumbai.

When we were in our colleges ten years ago (in Chennai) we had a group
of educated house wives who used to receive the schedule of exams in
advance from the student services department of our college and used to
make sure all the scribes are present on the appointed date. I feel
folks in Mumbai can ask NAB or other organisations to initiate formation
of such a voluntary group.

Samir,
1. I have been checking with other colleges about a writer for your
friend but it is going to be difficult because they too have exams
starting next week.
2. Schools also have exams during the same time.
3. The only possible solution is that she tries to get a writer from a
totally different faculty like engineering because they dont have exams
during those dates. She will have to convince the college to waive the
condition of the writer being from a batch younger than her. If they
dont agree then it is going to be very difficult for her.
4. She may have to convince the college to let one of the teachers or
the librarian write her papers. It has been done as suggested by the
group members.
4. Please ask her to handle the situation diplomatically as the college
is right and she has to convince them to waive the rules. This is not
difficult as the currrent examsa are internal exams and the Principal
can be convinced about the hardship and her discretionary powers can be
appealed to.
5. If the college does not have a problem about the age and allows some
person who does not have a literature background to be the
writer and you dont find someone then please call me immediately. There
are about 100 odd visually impaired students giving undergraduate exams
in the next 2 weeks in Mumbai-therefore the dearth of volunteers.
6. Lastly I'd like you to tell your friend that she should avoid such a
sittuation in the future. Learn computers thoroughly, increase her
typing speed, carry a copy of the UGC circular which was issued after
anjali's case and insist that she be allowed to answer her exams on the
computer. she will have to work on this as soon as these exams are over.

Let me know what happens tomorrow with the Principal.
