Yes we can.

After logging-in to the app:

1. Choose paper or paperless ticket.
2. Choose from and to station.
3. Click get fair.
4. If you have railway wallet loaded with cash, then review the train
route and then tick the box “Apply Concession”.
5. Choose concession type, either blind with escort or blind alone.
6. Choose book ticket button and click on it. If you are paying from
wallet, then the ticket will be booked instently and if not the payment option
will appear. Pay accordingly and then your ticket will be booked.

Things to bear in mind:

1. Ticket can be booked only 3 hours before the journey.
2. You should be at least 10 meters away from the train station or train
track.
3. You should enable the GPS on your device.
4. Also, you should not reset or uninstall the App till you complete the
journey.

Hi Amiyo,

There’s so much of advantage to having an E-card. If you are a regular train
traveler with general ticket, then it is very useful in getting the ticket via
UTS app and it helps you avoid standing on the line for several minutes. Also
while reserving tickets, several counter officers are ignorant about the quota
ticket and if you do it online via IRCTC web page or App, you can get the
actual availability of Quota ticket and get it booked yourself without filling
out the concession form and needing the help of a sighted person.

Hello Sandesh and others,

A friend tested my railway e card and he reported success with the 11 character
id. I myself never purchased a railway ticket online. I always went to the
nearest counter.

Anyway, thankks to everybody for the help.

To Shree Amiyo:

No need to do any activation.

Coming to next point.

there is no such protocol of 12 alphanumeric code here.

Even my card does have 10 characters, first 5 letters (Rail Division consisting
2 letters and station code consisting 3 letters), (and let me make this clear
that Railway stations has 2, 3, 4 letters station codes like BSL for Bhusawal,
NK for Nashik, CSMT for Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj terminus Mumbai etc) and
then 5 numbers.

I haven't booked any ticket yet but I tested the card with this 10-letter
alphanumeric combination with success. I saw the reduced fare and quit the
booking process.

In short, there is no unified combination here like Aadhar for 12 digits or PAN
consisting 10 character combination of which, first 5 are letters then 4
numbers and again 1 letter as 10th character.

Vande Mataram

Subject: Re: [AI] About Activation of Railway Concession Card

Hello all,

It appears that the discussion regarding the railway concession card has
brought to light a variety of experiences, and I appreciate everyone sharing
their perspectives. My intention in contributing to this thread was to offer
clarity based on the generally accepted format of the railway Divyangjan ID.

While personal experiences are valuable, it's crucial to ensure that the
information being shared is broadly accurate to avoid potential
misunderstandings or issues for others trying to use their cards. This is why I
previously emphasized that the railway identity card for persons with
disabilities typically consists of a 12-digit alphanumeric number.

I understand that there might be variations or specific cases where a different
number of digits has been successfully used, as some of you have pointed out.
However, based on the standard protocol and widely available information, the
most common and generally expected format is indeed 12 digits. This can often
be verified through a quick online search or by consulting official IRCTC
resources.

My aim is simply to guide users towards information that is most likely to be
universally applicable and accurate, ensuring they can avoid transaction errors
or other difficulties.

Best regards,
Vikas

Hi all,
I want to share my experience in this regard. I also have a concession card but
this includes 10 characters. First 2 letters for Railway zone, 3 letters for
station code, and then 5 Digits. That seems, in my case, it includes only 10
characters.

Hello,

I appreciate the further insights regarding the railway concession card and the
different experiences shared.

To clarify my previous point and provide additional information, the railway
Divyangjan ID is indeed a 12-digit alphanumeric number. This number is
typically structured in three distinct sections: the first two letters indicate
the railway zone (for example, "NR" for Northern Railway), the subsequent four
letters specify the issuing station or division, and the final six digits
constitute a unique, randomly generated card number.

>From my understanding and experience, the system generally requires a complete
>12-digit ID for validation. If someone has successfully booked tickets using
>an 11-digit ID, it might be an isolated instance, as the standard protocol
>necessitates the full 12 digits.

For anyone who wishes to independently verify this information, I would
recommend checking the IRCTC website or performing a general search for "number
of digits on railway identity card for disabled persons." This should confirm
the 12-digit format.

In cases where an ID appears to be 11 digits, it is often necessary to prepend
a "0" as the seventh character, immediately after the initial six alphanumeric
characters, to complete the required 12-digit sequence.

I hope this further clarification is helpful.

Best regards,
Vikas

Hello Amiyo,

Regarding the activation of the railway concession card, I believe there's no
need for an activation process at a station or DRM office. I recently booked a
ticket through the IRCTC website myself and was able to do so successfully
using an 11-digit card number. This number consisted of the first four digits
representing the railway division and station code, followed by five additional
digits. I simply entered this 11-digit number, and the booking went through
without any issues.

One thing I've noticed, which might be causing the transaction error you're
experiencing, is that the card number I have is in lowercase. However, when
you're booking a ticket online, you need to enter this number in uppercase. I
would suggest you try entering your card number in uppercase to see if that
resolves the problem.

I hope this information is helpful!

Best regards,

Naman

Regarding the card number, it appears you're receiving an 11-digit number when
it should be 12 digits. For example, if you are in New Delhi, the first six
digits would be "NRNDLS" followed by a six-digit number. Since you're only
getting five digits for the latter part, you would need to add a "0" before
those five numbers to complete the 12-digit sequence.

I hope this helps!

Do I have to get it activated?
