Hi,

The other aspect of making a purchase online is protecting your financial
information present on your PC.
The 2 critical steps in this direction would be:

1. Using a good anti-virus and anti-spyware software and a firewall.
This will offer you protection against keyloggers. If a keylogger is monitoring
all activities on your keyboard, then there is a threat that your financial
information will be stolen.
2. Storing your financial information on an external USB drive.
This will keep your passwords in a secure location that is away from internet
access.

Finally, I see that there are plenty of good suggestions given on the list. I
just want to point out here that as long as you are conducting a transaction on
a well known site with an encrypted connection, you are quite safe. Certainly
thefts of credit card information occur frequently, but as per my knowledge,
there is no way of detecting that such thefts occur while you are making a
purchase.
Unless of course some one enlightens me.

Regards

as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality."
