No harm in giving it a try. If it works it's good or else explore other options. I know renaming the file to wmv does not change the elements of the file, but as per my experience I've been able to play many movie CDs following this procedure.

Yu know another funny thing? even if you rename it in to .avi it will be played in to the winamp. audio and video codecs are different.
