to my knowledge, eyeway has been doing good work in the area of counseling,
profile screening and providing utmost information on job opportunities to
the candidates but many of us are not satisfied with the work being done by
other portals you have mentioned below.
Someone can call me cynical, but still I want to be categorical to say that
most of these organizations are observed in fulfilling their projects and
the outcome is not up to the mark.
First and foremost, these portals and organizations have to be responsive,
receptive and enthusiastic enough to cater the real needs of our and employ
the people with disabilities in particular to persons with vision
impairment.
I was following the recent discussion on new job portal on the list and I
too tend to be agreed to the fact that portico like jobability.org hasn't
got yet any success even after 8 months of it's commencement as the site is
not being properly utilized by the employers. Hope this would not be the
case with doability.in.
I am afraid but, all the efforts and suggestions will be futile unless the
companies are really willing to hire the differently abled, however, I
endorse your points and
Ingenuity shown to be vocal with this vital issue.
Why not to call a meeting with all of them, and give them some ideas with
seriousness.
More often than not, employers have one traditional point that they do not
get the suitably skilled candidates with disabilities, but what about those
who have some kind of skills. Have they all been employed by the employers?
Even all the non-disabled or sighted candidates cannot be found with full
skills and expertise.
We all know very well that there is a huge gap between what the blind
students are taught and trained with in education and what is the actual
requirement of the employers. There is a lack of quality education and
training to be given to the persons with visual disability.
We need to correct these areas at first priority.

Hello everyone,
I have been reading threads related to job portals etc, and I think, I
figured out what the issue that need to be addressed. At least I know of
following portals that works on employment, scribes and readers...
1. jobability.com
2. vijob.in
3. doability.in
4. eyeway.org (jobs section)
5. abilityfoundation.org
6. enableall.org
7. voicevision.in
9. seshpath.org
But to me all of the above seem to be providing information related to job
openings and each one putting in some effort or the other but nothing seem
to be putting in a complete efforts like researching, profile screening,
counseling. I think, all of those organizations in India those working on
these causes comes together and build a single platform would be helpful
so
that it will be easier for both candidates as well as employers.
Perhaps a conference call, in person meeting or webinar would be great to
initiate this.
