Good day,

I'm still on the steepest part of the learning curve, coding up my first Active4D site.

We have about twenty different sites which make extensive use of Lasso currently, and which will need to be changed over. On this first one, I'm using Welcome (with a small difficulty outlined on another thread of this list) to hide the server address and parameters, and it occurs to me that I'll probably end up with maybe 200 or so Welcome Proxy rules.

So, before I start on this process, does anyone know whether there is a practical upper limit on the number of rules, in terms of server performance or simply practicality?

Also, I'm using WebSTAR to host about 100 domains/virtual hosts, all on one IP address. For this first project I've simply used Welcome rules to Proxy the 4D server using its IP address. But should I really be using the Hosts feature of Welcome, or indeed the virtual hosts features in Active4D?

I want to make sure I start out doing things the best way.

Active4D 3.0b15 build 3, 4D 2003 Server, OSX, 4D Web Server, WebSTAR front end.

Thanks.

David Wright
