The ideal setup is to use apache in front of 4D to serve static content and use rewrite rules to forward dynamic requests to 4D.

Is it an option to use Windows IIS ? (The 4D Client/Active 4D web servers are running under Windows 2000 with IIS in the operating system).

I have been instructed to implement Aparajita 's suggested approach (put 4D Client behind a web server and server the static content from the frontline web server), even though I've told the customer that I've not done a setup like this before and it's a learning curve for me.

Before I launch into invetsigating this / learning Apache mod_rewrite etc (or getting someone in to help me) I thought I better check the option of using the web server that's already there.

Any comments regarding the relative merits if using Apache or IIS for this ?

Peter
